Something that greatly affects Nova Scotia's northern coastline is the Northumberland Strait. This is a large body of water in between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. The red sand in the area is caused by red sandstones which is why the soil is red. Also the soil is red because there is alot of rust in it.

The strong currents of the Northumberland Strait are caused by shallow water. The shallowness also causes temperatures in the area to be warm.

The tides for today (Monday May 9th) on the north shore will be:

Time         height

ADT      (m)      (ft)

04:05    2.1      6.9

09:42    1.2      3.9
